attitude is everything

Taken from http://www.arcamax.com/zits

This seems a little too real for me.  There are events that will forever be etched into my mind.  Things I will never forget for as long as I live (or at least I hope to never forget them).

But remembering people.. not so much.  So, when I meet people I do my best to remember names, things about the people, but I’ll be damned if I’m successful.  You want to know what I remember?  I remember the girl with the very cool, very long earrings with very short cut spiky hair that I ran into at the coffee shop.  I remember her because I commented on the earrings, we had a quippy conversation and walked away.  I saw her a couple of days later and I remembered her.  I remember the guy wearing the black trench coat with the orange hair, how could you NOT remember that!?  And, the people I live and work with every day, I remember them, I remember the names…  but I couldn’t, not even if my life depended on it, tell you what a single one of them was wearing.

So, what does all that mean?  I dunno, I guess it means that if you want to stick out in my mind, you gotta do something unique… oh and I remember Kristine (name changed) and her pseudo cowboy get up with the denim shirt, cowboy boots and jeans with embroidering on them… but, with her, I don’t think it is so much what she wears as how she wears it.

Maybe there is something to that old saying of “attitude is everything”.

Is it time to ride yet?

So, I’m getting the itch to go on a motorcycle ride.  Of course, the weather isn’t ready for me to go on a ride.  But I’m planning for this trip.

I’ve got a friend in South Carolina where I can stop over and then of course, got to stop by the Vortex Bar and Grill in Atlanta and since I’ll be heading back up to North, I might as well go across the Blue Ridge Parkway on the way back home.

Is it spring time yet?

What a view…

BadlandsThis was taken from a ridge in the badlands of South Dakota in June of 2007. It amazes me how the picture just doesn’t do justice. But then again, maybe it had something to do with standing on a ledge that if you fell off you would certainly die, or at the very least wish you were dead. Notice on the left of the picture the log ladder like structure that had to be climbed up to get to this point and how small the people look. And, if you look toward the center of the picture you can notice a parking lot with cars on it that looks like little dots. Mine’s the blue blotch towards the far end of the parking lot.

This was really a nice hike, I really enjoyed the scenery, the constant signs warning about rattle snakes and the sign to my right (that you can’t see) that warns about the dangerous cliff ahead. It was at this point I decided it might be okay to just turn around and go back the way we came. I did notice I had excellent cell phone reception here even though I couldn’t spot a tower anywhere.
